Our Distinction

Seycove Secondary Convocation was Flowers for Food's first
high school graduation ceremony.

I have attached a letter from the ceremony coordinator (Liz M.) to a local
newspaper (Northshore News). Thank you Liz.

Hi Kitty and Shiela,

I just thought you might be interested in knowing that Seycove Secondary
School has used the Canadian Flowers For Food Society for supplying all
the flowers for decorating the stage and reception area for the 7:00 pm
awards ceremony on June 5th and the 7:00pm valedictorian ceremony on
June 6th.

Yesterday two of the school's volunteer decorating committee members,
Liz M. and Kathy T. met with Marrett G. at the Canadian
Flowers For Food Society office and picked up 55 bundles of assorted
flowers that would usually be destined for the landfill or composting.
The school donated its decorating budget in exchange for the van load of
flowers. Funds collected by the Canadian Flowers For Food Society go to
feed the homeless.

The society has been in operation for about a year and receives flowers
from retailers and growers that are no longer useable for retail sale.
These flowers are then sold by the homeless on the street or recycled
into flower arrangements and sold to raise funds for the society.

If you would like to know more about the Canadian Flowers for Food
Society please visit their website at www.flowersforfood.com or call
Marrett Green.
