To provide opportunity and support for homeless, recovering people (mental affliction and/or physical addiction), and other marginalized or needy groups in Canada; we accomplish this via donated potted plants and cut flowers.

Robyne has written her own success story, and it is as follows:

I met Marrett I think in 2008. I wasn’t homeless, but I was hurting for a cash flow. I love flowers, so it was a good fit for me. I got lots of flower through Flowers for Food. It was great. I’d clean them all, put them in flower wrappers and make bouquets. It was fun, but a lot of work. I would set up on a nice spot on the street and people would buy them for a donation. It was a lot of fun.

Now I use the best of my flowers each week to give to one person in the community in exchange for a donation. I used to always buy myself flowers on my birthday, now I don’t have to, because I always have lots of flowers every week in my apt to look at. It’s great, so pretty. The money I make helps me to get by.

I am very grateful to Marrett – turning me on to Canadian Flowers for Food. It’s brighten my life and it allows me to brighten a lot of other people’s too.

A Message From MarrettAnyone can gather after reading Robyne’s letter that she is a wonderful person in many respects, however there is even more to her, and what she is accomplishing, I would like to share with you briefly.

As she mentioned, Robyne started with CFFFS using our flowers on the street, next to the BC Liquor store on Bute @ Davie St. in Vancouver, about three years ago. Today, she not only has a dedicated client who takes her bouquet arrangements on a weekly basis, but she also runs a monthly floral class at the MPA (Motivation, Power, Achievement) facility, advocating for those dealing with mental illness on 4th ave. in Vancouver.

Interestingly, Robyne is also a member at MPA making her a successful link between community groups and businesses as she delivers CFFFS programs to MPA members. For close to two years, through the generosity of Safeway and Capers Wholefoods Markets, Robyne has been managing the efforts of several community organizations working toward one goal: delivering CFFFS mission statement and, as she said, making a lot of other people happy in the process. Many thanks and congratulations, Robyne.
